Police were called to a hotel in Brantford, Ontario on Wednesday, where they found a 25 year-old woman they suspected to be a trafficking victim. A few day’s prior she’d accepted a ride from a 30 year-old man while walking on a street in Hamilton. He isolated her in an apartment and told her he wanted to introduce her to sex work. Fortunately, the police intervened just in time, rescuing the woman and arresting the man.
“Police say they were contacted before any sexual acts took place.”

OUR TAKE:
- The police took immediate action, knew what warning signs to look for, and were able to find and arrest the man.
- This is a wonderful success story. Rarely does a victim have the opportunity to seek help before they are forced into sexual acts. Traffickers usually tend to do a thorough job with threats and manipulation, stripping away a victim’s courage to reach out. It’s nice to read a story where rescue happens so quickly.
